Beginner, intermediate, and advanced (pictured below) level string classes are held on Saturday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:15 pm at the St Bartholomew’s Church, 16275 Pomerado Rd in Poway! See specific dates, below.  Please register online.  Payment can be made online with registration, or by check made out to ‘YPOSD’ on the first day of class.

In this program beginning students learn how to play songs by ear. Music-note-reading is gradually introduced into the weekly classes as students advance to higher levels of performance proficiency.  The program is based on the popular Mark O’Connor method.


Class Requirements (method books should be specific to instrument – violin, viola, cello, bass)

Beginning Class, 3:30-4:00pm

Advanced Class, 4:30-5:15pm

Dont Fret Fingerboard Chart (installed onto the instrument if needed)

2018-2019 Class and concert dates (NOTE: attire for concerts and events is all black):

Spring Term (current) March 23, 30, April 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11, 18

May 27th at the Pancake Festival, Webb Park, 9am

June 1st Concert at St Bartholomew’s Church, 2pm

Summer Term (upcoming) 6 weeks: June 15, 22, July 13, 20, and August 10, 17. Register here.
